What is the relative range of weights when ranking results?
I am trying to add weights to a few models to give preference to some over other when performing an application wide search. As far as I understand, the default weight is 1.
Are the mean, median, max values known for result weights? It would help to know a range within which I should be trying to optimize the weighting.. <5, <100, <1000 etc?

Most discussions seem to indicate a trial and error approach. I am wondering if anyone has consistently used a particular approach.

Hi Hemang
You're correct with the default weight being 1. I don't think Sphinx provides any information with what the mean/median/max values for weights are - I generally take a trial and error approach, especially with a set of test data.
It may be worth asking whether there's better approaches on the Sphinx forum.
